First Valentine’s Day as A Wife

No, it is not today, not this year’s Valentine’s Day but the 2009′s. I just felt like reminiscing the very first time I celebrated Valentine’s Day as a wife. It maybe because I feel alone this Valentine’s Day. I didn’t received a Valentine’s greeting from my husband yet which I understand for it’s not the hearts’ day yet in a country where he is at. Anyway, I haven’t heard from him for quite a long time so not hearing from him this Valentine’s Day is not new. I am expecting for nothing, I know but yes, I do expect to receive a Valentine’s greeting at least a veneer one. After all, he is my husband.

Harking back to 2009 Valentines day, it was the happiest ever, the most memorable, the most special. My husband and I were both wearing red that day to show to everyone how much we love each other. I felt like I was a teenager who received for the first time a bouquet of flowers, surprise gifts and Valentine’s card. His efforts in plotting a thrilling surprise with our house maids as his cohorts were the best he has done for me so far. And then the night came, we went to a Valentine’s dinner date at a restaurant with ambiance that was made even more romantic through the accompaniment of some acoustic music.

He made me feel so beautiful and so special that very day. He made me feel so secure, so loved. Sigh, those were the days.

Filipino Desserts That Everybody Should Try

“STRESSED when spelled backwards is equals to DESSERTS.”

If you have a sweet tooth like me, you will always crave for something that is really delicious and sweet. Filipino desserts always satisfy my cravings and for sure it can and it will satisfy your cravings as well. What makes Filipino desserts a bit different to other countries and nationalities desserts is that, Filipino dessert recipes are not too sweet for my tastebuds. Below are some of my favorite Pinoy desserts that you should try as well.

Buko Salad

Buko salad dessert recipe is usually served out of a young green coconut shell. This Filipino dessert is best served cold after eating lunch. Buko salad can go along with other fruits such as mango, banana, kiwi fruit and dragon fruit. The mixture of condensed milk and cream makes this recipe more tastier and cremier.

Leche Flan

Leche flan is a favorite and popular dessert in the Philippines. It is similar to a cream caramel. There are many variations in making leche flan, but the classic recipe only calls for eggyolk, sugar, evaporated milk, condensed milk and citrus flavourings. Steaming is the traditional method for cooking leche flan over moderate heat until set.

Halo Halo

Halo halo is one of my favorites. There are many kinds and variations of Halo Halo nowadays. Halo Halo is a traditional Filipino dessert consisting of blend of fruits, sweet preserves, evaporated milk, and shaved ice. It is frequently topped with a scoop of ice cream and leche flan as well. Halo Halo literally means “Mix-Mix” (mixed ingredients).

The above desserts are only three of the many Filipino desserts you may try and taste. Hope you like it and hoping someday you will try it.

Pork Chop Barbecue

I prepared four chops of pork to be barbecued for lunch last week for the three of us (dad, I and Cheem).  I didn’t use any special barbecue mixture, I did it the simplest way I could think of. That’s what you do when you wake up late for lunch and hungry and you see no food cooked and served on the table for the others are still asleep. I only added salt, sprinkled some ground pepper, meat tenderizer and garlic, poured enough soy sauce on the pork meat and then barbecued it. It tasted great when cooked.

Keeping A Bedroom Comfortable

A bedroom is the so-called “most comfortable” part of a house. Well it should be comfortable because it’s where we retire at night after the long hours of completing either daily works or daily chores to get enough energy to face another busy day. That’s why if you have ever noticed when we look for a house, we first ask about how many rooms there are and how spacey they can be once a mattress is laid. Everyone has her/his own preference of a room space but everyone seeks comfort when it comes to being in a bedroom. Once talking about bedrooms, of course bed and mattresses comes next as comfort in a bedroom comes with a comfortable bed or mattress and then its cleanliness. A memory foam mattress would be a great choice if it is real comfort you seek.

Looking for beds and mattresses is easy but for the one that truly gives you the comfort you need like a memory foam mattress, it’s kind of a lot of work. Well, at least in my case for I live in a not so progressive city where lack of home furniture and stuffs is a problem. I have to travel by sea for hopefully only two hours to be able to find the memory foam mattress that I need for my bedroom. Now think of the shipping cost and the hassle of travelling with it by sea. It is a head-shaking scenario but if you are determined to have a hotel-like feel in your bedroom, it will be worth it. If you can’t afford a memory foam mattress then go for the fastest and the most affordable way to keep your bedroom comfortable, keep it clean for all time.

A Glimpse in My Kitchen

Take a glimpse in my almost all-white kitchen in my new apartment. It is clean white isn’t it? This is the look during the first 3 days we moved in in this apartment. Now, it is all dusty. I still have no time to do a general house cleaning yet. The dusts could wait no longer. I might do it this weekend with my sister’s help.
