My current situation requires me to be smart on money. I may not be able to save some from the monthly income; at least I could use every cent of it very well leaving no unpaid bills behind. It is a very hard challenge on my part since I have nothing left to depend on, not my parents and not even my husband. Being in this situation, I’ve learned a lesson and that is to prioritize the needs before wants especially when you are not that productive. Along with that, I’ve also leaned to count my average expenses on electric, water and other utilities that I need to pay on monthly basis and to cut down as much as I can. If before I didn’t care about the digits on all our bills, now I do.
Here are the approximated expenses that I need to pay monthly:
Power/Electric: Php 2000.00.
This is the average amount of electric I consume monthly although my bill had gone up to php 270,000 + last month. This amount covers the electric used in cooking, lighting, cooling and little power consumption like hair drying, ironing and etc.
Water: Php 180.00.
This is the average amount of water I consume monthly. I wash laundry once a week.
Internet: Php 999.00.
I subscribed to smart wireless broadband plan 999. I had it since 2007 and it has been relocated four times. I might get my connection disconnected next month and get a ‘plug it’ instead so I could connect to the Internet anywhere without the need to pay for the pull-out and installation when I need to move to a new place again.
OV Homeowners Monthly Dues: Php 550.00
I pay Php550.00 monthly being a homeowner in Orchid Villas. This amount is spent on the place’s 24-hours security and maintenance. This payment would be cut once my house in OV is sold which I am currently working on.
These so far are my major monthly expenses. From my monthly average income of ten thousand pesos (sometimes lesser), I am left with more than a half of the amount that is spent on tuition fees and the rest is stretched on foods. Now I know how stressful it is to budget money.
